When King Charles of Bourbon decided to build a Royal Palace out of Naples, he wished to compete with the most beautiful residences that already existed in Europe. Thanks to the ability of one of the greatest architects of the 18th century Luigi Vanvitelli the palace was a masterpiece: one of the largest in the world, it’s considered a triumph of the Italian Baroque not only for the sumptuous apartments but also for the spectacular Park made of a series of fountains, statues, pools and basins stretching out for more than three kilometers, including the English Garden, one of the most important picturesque spaces created in Europe.
