Itinerary
The National Archaeological Museum houses one of the world’s best collections of Greek and Roman antiquities, including sculptures, marbles and gems. It was established by King Charles of Bourbon starting from the huge Farnese collection he inherited from his mum Elisabeth Farnese. Then the museum was enriched with all the archaeological findings from the excavations of the two ancient Roman towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum, financed by the same royal family.
This is why mosaics, frescoes, marble and bronze statues, silverware and glassware together with much more important evidence of all kinds and eras are shown in the 12.650 square meters of this superb monument. It is a wonderfully immersive experience which will transport you back in time.
