Eleven stations along Line 1 of the Metropolitan subway conceived as expository spaces of contemporary art for all the citizens. A project born in 1995 that has included the best architects, designers and artists of the international scene, including Alessandro Mendini, Anish Kapoor, Gae Aulenti, Jannis Kounellis, Karim Rashid, Michelangelo Pistoletto, in order to improve the connections among the main points of interests of the city and at the same time to offer a cultural break. A new concept of museum spread all over the town that has already obtained significant recognitions: one for all Toledo Station, one of the deepest of the line, with its 50 meters, signed by the Spanish architect Oscar Tusquets Blanca that has also designed the public square above the entrances, has been included in the The Daily Telegraph “Europe’s Most Impressive Underground Railway Stations list” in 2012.
