The latest excavations in the modern town of Castellammare di Stabia, the ancient Roman Stabiae, have revealed the presence of a big residential area for nobles on a hill with an amazing panoramic view. Only two of the many villae d’otium have been brought to light, Villa San Marco, with its eleven thousand square meters and Villa Arianna, named after a beautiful picture of a wall of a triclinium with mythological stories.
The villas, equipped with thermal areas, gardens, pools and terraces are fantastic examples of Roman architecture and elegant decoration for leisure holidays.
